Old farmhouse at Lake Orta tastefully renovated

Pettenasco is a nice and lively village on the east shore of Lake Orta, close to the town of Orta San Giulio with the famous Island .On the Island the Bishop palace and the Basilica di San Giulio with frescoes from 14th to16th century. The “Casa del gelso” is a delightfully restored farmhouse in Pratolungo a quiet and panoramic hamlet of Pettenasco. The farm house was originally a silk-worms breeding and it’s still possible to see a Few mulberry-trees, in italian “gelso”, which offer in Summer their juicy fruits. The house has been delightfully and tastefully restored during the last year to a high level of comfort preserving its original architectural features and turned into 3 beautiful apartments offering absolute comfort. Every accommodation has a bedroom with double bed and a bath with shower, Sat TV, a living room with double sofa bed, dining corner and kitchen line.
What really makes the “Casa dei gelsi” is the way it opens out onto the wonderful large garden overlooking Pettenasco and the Lake. The owners' main business is a plant nursery so the garden offers a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy flowers and ornamental plants . The holiday home is particularly peaceful as the road leads only to the property; the main sound being that of bird song and at times the gurgling of the Pescone river in the valley below. Directly from the house, a small path descends to the river with fresh and clean waters and small falls.
