Casa Frey is a traditional stone house built in 1920 by the great-grandfather of the current owner. It has been completely restored in the last years, the conversions were done very tastefully with many original features preserved, including chimneys and parts of the stone walls. The holiday home is situated at the edge of the small village of Vacciago at walking distance from the local shop with italian delicatessen.
For the shared use of guests there’s a nice pool with sunbeds (open may to september) and the indoor idropool Jacuzzi.
Casa Frey is a very homely and attractive house available all year.

Die Casa Frey hält, was die Homepage verspricht. Die Anlage ist gepflegt und komfortabel. Die Einrichtung der Zimmer und der Küche macht die Mitnahme von zusätzlichen Sachen unnötig. Die Betreuung durch die – sehr gut englisch sprechenden – Gastgeber ist angenehm, aber unaufdringlich. Der Ort ist gemütlich und bietet mit dem Geschäft “La Bottega” eine schöne und typische Einkaufsmöglichkeit an sieben Tagen der Woche.

Very relaxing (Frey 1)

We spent a wonderful relaxing fortnight in casa frey.
The house is situated in a very quiet place but the infrastructure is excellent. We had more than enough space for three adults and two children. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything you need, everything was clean and the family owning the house was really nice and very helpful.

Our family of two adults and three children had a wonderful time at Lake Orta, and really enjoyed staying in this apartment. It had everything we needed, with the bonus of very helpful, friendly owners who were prepared to do that little bit extra to make our stay successful. They provided plenty of local information, which was really useful.
We loved the little town of Orta San Giulio – there’s a great deli in the main street (along from the main squre) where they sell wonderful local cured meats, cheeses, bread etc. We had a nice meal at a lakeside restaurant in the main square. And you can do a great little walk around the lake, which takes a bit over an hour – details at tourist office. And don’t miss the drive up to the Sanctuary above the lake – views are stunning.
We also went to Stresa for a day (on Lake Maggiore), and took the boat out to visit Isola Bella and Isola Madre – highly recommended (but watch out for touts – boat tickets are cheaper from the official office, right there at the main car park on the lake).

We were able to take over the whole property (4 apartments) which gave us the benefit of not having to worry about anybody else but ourselves. Property description very accurate, clean and well maintained. Well refurbished and furnished with the owners being extremely helpful at every opportunity. A car a must and only 10 minutes into Orta San Guilio.
